blip Privacy Policy
The short version
blip collects only what it needs to work: your email address to sign you in, and the words you log. There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell or share your information.
blip is made by Cover Two Strategies LLC ("Cover Two Games", "we"), based in Lansing, Michigan, USA. This policy covers the blip app for Android and iOS.
What we collect
| Information | Where it comes from | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | You, when you sign in. blip signs you in with a one-time code sent to this address; there is no password. | Yes |
| Your daily words and their dates | You, each time you log a word | Yes, it's the app |
| First name | You, if you choose to add it. It appears only on images you choose to share. | No |
| Personal word colors | You, if you adjust how a word is colored | No |
| Technical logs (such as IP address and request times) | Kept automatically by our database provider when the app talks to it | Yes, for security |
blip also keeps a copy of your words, name and settings on your phone so it works offline. Your reminder time, theme and similar preferences stay only on your phone.
blip does not collect your location, contacts, photos, device identifiers or advertising IDs.
How we use it
We use your information only to run blip for you:
- Your email address signs you in and lets you change or recover your account. We don't send marketing email.
- Your words, name and word colors are stored so they show up on all your devices and survive a lost or replaced phone.
- Technical logs help keep the service secure and working.
Mood colors, week summaries and milestones are all worked out on your phone. We don't look at your words unless you ask us for help with your account or the law requires it, and they are never used to train AI models or build a profile of you.
Where it's stored
Your account and words are stored with Supabase, the service blip uses for sign-in and its database. Supabase processes this information only on our behalf to run blip. Their servers may be outside your country, including in the United States.
Each account can reach only its own words: the database itself blocks one account from reading another's. Everything travels between the app and the database over encrypted connections.
On Android, the copy on your phone is left out of device backups and phone-to-phone transfers. On any phone, signing in brings your words back from your account.
What we don't do
- No ads, and no advertising or analytics tools of any kind in the app.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- No selling, renting or trading your information.
- No sharing your information with anyone except Supabase, which stores it for us, or when the law requires it.
Sharing, reminders and reviews
- Share cards and exports. When you tap Share or Export, blip makes the image or file on your phone and hands it to your phone's share menu. Where it goes from there is your choice; we don't see or keep a copy.
- Daily reminders. Reminders are scheduled by your phone itself. Nothing about them is sent to us, and blip doesn't use push notification services.
- Review prompts. blip may occasionally ask you to rate it using Google Play's or the App Store's own review window. Any rating or review goes to Google or Apple under their privacy policies; blip doesn't receive it.
Deleting your words or your account
We keep your account and words until you delete them. Technical logs are kept by our provider only for a limited time.
- Remove one word: open the day in the calendar and tap Remove this word. It is deleted from your account.
- Delete your account in the app: go to Settings > Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and everything in it (your words, name and word colors) on all your devices. It can't be undone, so use Settings > Export my words first if you want a copy.
- Delete your account on the web: go to blip.day/delete-account, sign in with a code sent to your email, and delete it there. This works even if you no longer have the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you have the right to see, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, and to object to how it's used. You can do most of this in the app: export your words, change today's word, adjust word colors, and delete words or your whole account. For anything else, email us and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
We use your information because you asked us to provide blip to you (in GDPR terms, to perform our contract with you).
Children
blip isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We'll post any new version here with a new date. If a change affects how your words are used, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
